There was a LONG wait at the library for this one, and now I see why! This is a 5+++ star read! I was addicted to reading this book!
Izzy Russo is a manager of a high end department store. She’s been dating Evan for years, but things haven’t been the same. Knowing that here have been thefts at high end retail stores, Callahan is hired to provide security. With Evan leaving her hurt and upset all the time, she downloads and AI boyfriend, names him Caleb, and just so happens to design him after Callahan. The reality is that Cal has hacked her phone and he’s behind the “AI” boyfriend. He’s been listening and he knows she is his. When Izzy stands up to Evan, Callahan is around to protect her at all costs.
This is a debut book and it’s AMAZING!!! The author hit everything perfectly for me. I found myself in Izzy just a bit. With her mom and Evan constantly making comments about her weight, she’s self conscious. Callahan, however, sees nothing but a sexy woman. He was protective of Izzy in the best way. It wasn’t so over the top that it wasn’t believable. Yeah, he hacked her phone, but people hack phones. Yes, he pretended to be an AI boyfriend, but so what? He was there for Izzy when she needed it, and even when she didn’t. He protected her when she thought no one ever would, he cared about her when she thought no one ever would. He made her feel seen, he made her feel heard, he made her feel sexy.
The tension and chemistry between these two is off the charts hot. There is a good amount of spice in this book, but it’s done well and it makes sense for the characters. It also, partially, acts like a tease, and if you’ve read the book, you’ll know it finally happens at the end! And I LOVED the ending of the book. Ugh, I think I need to read this one again already!
I cannot wait for the next book in this series. This author has a reader for life in me.
