Blair is heading off to college. She’s supposed to be in a house with her two girlfriends, but they decide that they don’t want to live with her. Now Blair is desperate. She finds a house online that a few people are living at, and she has a conversation with one of the girl roommates. Now Blair has found housing. When she gets there, however, her brother’s best friend, Jamie, is one of the roommates. He doesn’t want her to stay, but she tells him she’ll help him with a project if he lets her stay. He agrees, but he winds up looking out for her, caring about her. And Jamie? He’s a little different than she remembers. He’s full of muscle now, with a tattoo, and a new haircut. She hates him, right? Or does the time they spend together change anything.
This was such a fun book to read! If work didn’t get it in the way, I could have read this book in one sitting. The book takes you on a journey, the journey of the blossoming of Blair and Jamie’s relationship. What starts as scenes filled with what feels like disgust, hatred and tension slowly move to scenes filled with what feels like friendship. Slowly, the friendship becomes more, but Blair is scared. Jamie is really the sweetest. At first, he is closed off, but then once he is able to verbalize his feelings, he is very open with Blair. He really is the sweetest!
For most of the book, I wanted more about what happened with Blair’s friends. We do finally get that later on in the book, and I was happy that the author closed this plot point. Her friends are garbage, and she wound up in the best place possible. A house full of eclectic people who accept Blair for who she is, welcomes her, and helps care for her.
Another relationship that changed for the better in the book was the one between Blair and her brother. They were always at odds. Their stepdad always favored Blair. Once they got to actually talking, they were able to start to fix their relationship. I really liked reading this.
So if you’re looking for a sweet, quick read romance, check this one out!
