Imposter

Many thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for the eARC of this book!

This is book one in the Dr. Alex Gregory series. Dr. Gregory is a psychologist and he works at a mental hospital. However, on the side, he helps with criminal profiles. He’s called to a small town after a woman is found murdered and the local police and the state of her body is peculiar. When Dr. Gregory gives his profile, he is sure that whoever did this isn’t an outsider, but it’s someone that lives in the town. Then there is a second murder, and its of a woman who is a different age of the first one. Was his profile right? Who is the killer? Will they catch them?

This is a really good whodunnit. Normally I read these kinds of books and it’s a police procedural. What I like about this book is that the main characters is the psychologist, and he thinks about the crime scenes, the circumstances, and the evidence differently than police. That’s what makes this book stand out amongst a sea of other whodunnit books.

I personally love getting into the minds of people, to see what makes them do what they do, and make the choices that they make. That made this book particularly interesting for me. Then we get to the whodunnit part of the book. I had my own profile of the killer, and what I had thought was correct! However, I didn’t guess the killer, so that makes the book even more fun to read!

Besides the whodunnit, there is a reveal at the end of the book that was equally as shocking!

I highly recommend you pick this one up!
