“It’s loving someone so fiercely and hoping it’s enough to glue together all the broken pieces of their past.“
Another new to me author! In this book we meet Trent and Cassidy are neighbors, Trent just moved in next to her. They don’t like each other at first – he slams his door, and she sings loudly off tune. He is an NFL player who was recently traded, and she’s trying to get over her writer’s block she’s had since her ex cheated on her. When her ex shows back up, Trent is there for her. When a picture is snapped and made public, they decide to fake date. She will help with his reputation, and he can help her with her writing inspiration. But fake dating never says fake, does it? But what happens when he does something for Cassidy to lose her trust in him?
I wanted an easy read and found this one online. It is an easy, fun, and short read. I found the writing to flow nicely as well. I liked all of the characters, especially Sherry. Sherry is the older woman who used to live next door to Cassidy before she had to leave to go to a nursing home. Sherry and Cassidy share a special connection.
I did feel like some things were a little rushed, and it’s probably because it is a shorter book. Though, I did feel a connection between the two characters. This book is heavy on the spice, especially for how short it is. Cassidy sends videos to Trent of things for them to act out. After their first time fooling around, the interactions between them became more about the spice than a true emotional connection.
The best, funniest part of the book? That Cassidy has a pet bird named after a murderer!
So if you’re looking for an easy, fast read, check this one out!
