Many thanks to Berkley for the eARC of this book!
FINALLY!!! I finally have read a 5 star read this month! I savored this book. Ugh, it was so good!
In this enemies to lovers, forced proximity book, Jackson and Delilah have had run ins, and he seemingly doesn’t like her. She parks crooked and he leaves her post it notes. Jackson provides the weather on the radio station and Delilah provides the weather on the local news station. They partner together for a big snowstorm that’s inbound, and go to the mountains to do that broadcast. Decidedly they called a truce for the sake of the broadcast. While she’s whimsical, he’s more serious. He likes routine and lists. They slowly start to crack each other’s outer facade, but with each of them unsure, and things going on in their personal lives, could this even work?
It’s very rare that I rate books 5 stars, and it’s even more rare that I rate more than 1 book in a series 5 stars, but Borison is so talented that she pulled it off!
I LOVED these two. Delilah is fresh and whimsical. She’s unsure of herself at times, but cares so much about her career and what it means to her. She has such a special reason for why she chose this career. Jackson is kind of dorky, but very sweet. He has spent his life taking care of others and has no problem taking care of Delilah too. These characters are well developed, and both of them have something deeper happening in their lives. The author doesn’t glaze over this, but has the characters help each other out. They listen to each other, they support each other.
One of my favorite scenes is the doughnut sled scene, I was laughing and smiling along. I also really loved what Jackson did for her in the end, how he went from being scared to being in front of the camera to not caring if he was making a fool of himself, as long as it was to help Delilah.
The author also handled the spicy scenes very well. It was not overdone, and it wasn’t too much. It was the perfect amount for these characters, and the scenes were very true to these characters.
As you can see, I really loved this book. So if you don’t have this on your radar, you should. If you do, bump it up! Oh yeah, and read the first one in the series, First Time Caller, because it’s equally as good!
