Social media influencer Ellie Parking seemingly has it all. A best friend, a handsome husband who she recently married, a nice place to live, a huge social media following, and her random acts of kindness. When a betrayal causes Ellie to be at her lowest, she still stops to help random stranger. But you should never trust a stranger, because it’s this stranger that turns her life upside down and makes things even worse. Now Eddie Flynn is the only person that can help her. Someone is manipulating events, and now Eddie’s family is in trouble too.
I really enjoyed this one. In fact, it’s one of my favorites of this series. This is told through mainly two points of view, Ellie and Eddie, and a few chapters with others. In Ellie’s chapters, we get to feel how she’s feeling. With Eddie’s chapters, we of course get into his brilliant mind.
I really enjoyed this one because there was not just one but two courtroom scenes. For whatever reason, even though I am a lawyer myself, I do love reading (and watching) good courtroom dramas. These scenes did not disappoint. I loved the twists in these scenes too. I never expected them!
I wanted to rate this one 5 stars, but something happened in one of the courtroom scenes that bothered me. When Kate was defending Christine and Kevin, and she was questioning someone on the stand about their transportation to Mr. Cross’ house. There was no GPS data that indicated that they drove. BUTTTT… Kate never mentioned the timing it would have taken to walk there, or bike there and whether they could have pulled it off in the allotted time frame. I also would have liked to get some more background on how some of the evidence was gathered in both cases.
The ending was perfect. I didn’t see it coming, but I loved it!
