The Fall of Iris Henley

By: Jennifer Graham

What do you do when a message goes out on social media calling you a murderer? Just ask Iris Henley. Six months after the murder suicide, a message goes out on Sekrit, an app that all the kids use in her high school for gossip, that she murdered her best friend and boyfriend. In the snap of a finger, Iris loses her reputation and her friends. She’s now an outcast and cyberbullied. Iris didn’t murder anyone though, so it’s up to her to figure out what really happened if it wasn’t a murder suicide. It’s the only way to clear her name.

I kept seeing this book all over so I read it. It was SOO good! I couldn’t put this book down. I had to know what was happening, what messages were being posted, how Iris would react to them, and who was behind this all. Graham does a great job of keeping the mystery alive throughout the book.

No one in this book is perfect, and everyone and anyone could be a suspect as to who is behind what is happening to Iris. I did guess who it was, but I was only able to guess half of it. There was a twist in there that I didn’t see coming, actually there were a few! That’s the best kind of mystery book!

I didn’t love all of the characters, but I don’t think anyone is meant to. I absolutely felt bad for Iris though. What the other students did to her was horrific. I did want to shake her at one point and tell her to go to someone for help. But, I remember high school and the kids are not always nice.

This book makes me appreciate that the only “social media” I had in high school was My Space! At that time, not every little thing was posted online. There was no voyeuristic lifestyle.

Anyway, if you haven’t checked this one out, please do!
