Grace has loved Jackson since she was 15 when they spent summers together in France, but he married someone else. After he got married, she stayed away because it was too hard for her. Now, Jackson is back in her life, with an offer for a job back in France, and now he’s single! Once Grace gets to France, she runs into an old friend, Etienne. Etienne suggests that they make Jackson jealous. But soon that plan turns into feelings. But Etienne has a secret that could change everything.
I absolutely love Paige Toon’s books. She always has a way of writing deep romances with lighthearted moments, and moments that will make you cry. This book was no different.
The backdrop of France is a gorgeous one. Toon describes everything perfectly, without too much detail that it drags on, but with enough detail for you to imagine the scenes, scenery, and beauty. Then we have the friendship between Jackson and Grace. They have such history, and their on page chemistry is great. Their banter is good and there are so many times that I smiled. At first I felt like their uneasiness was about not knowing how to cross that line. But when Etienne comes into the picture, it was plain to see that the chemistry between Etienne and Grace was heated and fierce, even if he is holding onto a secret.
There’s a lot of family history involved in this book too. Grace works in marketing and the job that Jackson offers her is marketing his product. She uses the local town and its history to help with the marketing. But that history is tied to families. I really enjoyed how Toon weaved everything together.
I could keep gushing about this book!!! It’s a 5 star read, and one that I highly recommend.
