Thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for the ARC of this book!
The Police Captain in Himmel is murdered, another police officer is arrested for his murder, but investigative journalist Leah Nash doesn’t believe this is what happened. As she chases her own leads and theories, what she finds is a tangled web of deception and lies among nearly every potential suspect, and even people that were never thought to be suspects. But what she is trying to find the truth, there is someone that doesn’t want her to.
I haven’t read any other books in this series, but I never felt like I was missing out for one minute. If there was something that seemed to reference an earlier book, it was described really quickly, and then the author moved on. The pacing of this book is great, it is very dialogue driven, the chapters aren’t too long, and it makes it easy to get through. I was on board with Leah’s theories the whole time, though I had some of my own suspicions. But even my own suspicions were wrong. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, is that a little past the halfway mark of the book, it dragged on a bit and got a little bit repetitive. Otherwise, this is a great read, and I highly recommend it!
This book will be available on July 12, you can pre-order your copy here.
