“But I think how we treat any one person is how we treat the world, how we treat ourselves.”
Wren met Adam on a dating app, Torch. They met at a bar and began what Wren though was whirlwind romance. Then one day, Adam left for work with a plan to meet for dinner and Wren was stood up. She had been ghosted – all social media profiles have been deleted, his Torch profile is deleted, and his number is disconnected. Then Bailey Kirk, private investigator, showed up at her door. Mia Thrope is missing and Bailey Kirk is trying to find her. So what’s the connection between Wren and Mia? They both met Adam on Torch, only Mia didn’t know him as Adam. Wren then decides to try to find Adam. She goes down a dangerous path trying to find Adam. Will she end up missing as well?
I absolutely love the concept of this book, which is why I picked it up to read. The book had all the potential to be a five star book. It started out strong; there times that I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what was going to happen. There were times I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened; there was a ton of anticipation at certain parts.
However, the story also dragged… a lot. There was no reason this book needed to be over 400 pages. There is a lot that could have been cut out and the story would have been the same. It’s for that reason I could only rate this book as three stars. I found myself skipping over sections, or skimming sections.
