The Surgeon

By: Leslie Wolfe

“How can I imagine a world where I can grow accustomed to people dying? To delivering bad news to devastated families, shattering their hopes with one word?”

Dr. Anne Wiley is a successful cardio surgeon and the face of the hospital for which she works. Married to her college sweetheart, who is a lawyer, they are the ultimate power couple. Dr. Wiley has never lost a patient – until she did. Protocol indicates that the hospital reviews the surgery, but what isn’t expected was a prosecutor looking into the death of the patient. Did Dr. Wiley kill this patient? Will she be arrested? Will this ruin everything for her?

I really enjoyed this book! It kept me entertained and I couldn’t stop reading because I wanted to know how the book was going to play out. Dr. Wiley seems a little weak, unsure of herself, for someone who is such a successful surgeon. Wolfe did a such a great job with this story line and with all the twists/turns. I didn’t see any of it coming, and I always do try to figure out the whodunit or why or how every time I read a thriller book. This one definitely got me! Wolfe also did a really great job of making me hate Paula, the prosecutor. Overall, this is a must read for anyone who likes thrillers.
