“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”
This is another booksta made me read it! Anna O. stabs two people to death. She hasn’t woken up since, better known as resignation syndrome. Enter Dr. Benedict Prince, an expert in sleep related crimes. He thinks that he can wake Anna up by giving her hope. If she wakes up, she is to stand trial. When she does wake up, Dr. Prince needs to decide if this is a good thing or bad thing. He’s determined to figure out what happened that night Anna stabbed two people. But finding out may be dangerous.
This is labeled as a thriller. I think not. More like BORING. The concept is very interesting. The public labels Anna as “Sleeping Beauty” and he’s Dr. Prince. I first hated how little interaction we saw between Dr. Prince and Anna O while she was still sleeping. We’re led to believe that he has these great methods to wake her up, but we barely get any of that.
There is so many metaphors of beauty that have no place in thrillers, at least that’s my opinion. There’s TONS of references to Harry Potter. There’s so much repetitiveness. This book really needed to be edited down. It could have been great.
And the ending.. or what I thought was the ending. There were a few times that I thought the book was going to end and then it just kept going and going. It was SO long winded.
I don’t love writing negative reviews, but I hate that I ended my month with such a bad book.
