About the Book

After escaping her last turbulent relationship, the last thing she needs is more drama — but the universe has other plans…

Tegan Javaman is an autistic, polyamorous midwife with only one goal in mind: to move on from her break-up with a new job, new home, and new outlook. But when her welcome home party sparks a chain of events whose consequences threaten to upend her life forever, will she survive, let alone thrive, in her new life?

‘The Midwife in the Middle’ navigates love, hate, friendship, and more through a neurodivergent lens.

My Review

In this short book, we meet Tegan. She’s not my favorite character, unfortunately. I appreciate some aspects of the character; I love seeing a neurodivergent main character. Especially when they are celebrated and appreciated. There was no putting her down, there was understanding of what she needed in certain moments. She was who she was and that was it. The part that I didn’t care for was her jumping from one relationship to another one. She had such an issue when her ex jumped into a monogamous relationship after they had been together for 3 years in a polygamous one, but then she sort of did the same thing.

I will say, the author wrote Gabriella well. Her escalating behavior had you questioning what she was going to do next. I never expected her to take it as far as she did, but that is one of the things that I love about romantic suspense books.

This is a quick, enjoyable read. I do wish it were a little longer so that we could have felt more of the pull of the relationship between Tegan and Lloyd. I didn’t feel that so much. Otherwise, this was good.
