It’s Not Her

By: Mary Kubica

Many thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing and @TheHive for the ARC of this book!

I’m SO glad I gave this author another try. I had a small issue with something at the end of another book, so I haven’t read this author since, BUT this was just a fantastic book!

Courtney Gray is on vacation with her family, and her brother’s family. They each are renting a cabin by a lake. She hears screams and sees Mae, her brother’s daughter running. She finds her brother and sister-in-law, Emily, dead in their cabin. Their other daughter, Reese, is missing. Courtney is doing everything she can to find Reese, but she’s starting get suspicious of nearly everyone. The Grays, they have their secrets, and so does the town that they are in.

This is a bingeable book. It’s not extremely fast paced, but there’s enough action in there that you want to keep reading because you want to get to the end. The chapters are told from Courtney’s point of view in the present, and Reese’s point of view a few days earlier and lead up to the present. A lot of authors do this, but for this book, it worked perfectly. Each point of view gave you just enough information to be suspicious of everyone! Did Reese do it? She’s an angry teenager. Did her brother Wyatt do it? He sleepwalks and can be violent when he does so. Was it the guy that Reese met? He got angry when she told him to go away. Was it her husband? There’s questionable things and he’s acting sketchy. There’s just NO way to know who it is!!!!

The shocking ending left me reeling. I instantly wanted to talk to someone about it! I don’t think in my wildest dreams I would have ever come up with the way that it ended! There was just so much that I didn’t expect.

This book has drawn me back into this author and now I’ll be going back and reading all the books I missed out on! If you read thrillers, and you haven’t read this one yet, get your hands on it now!
