Clusterf*ck

By: Brain O’Sullivan

“Trust is not the same things as love. In fact, when you love someone, that’s oftentimes when you are the most susceptible to being used.”

April is a married women. Her husband is wealthy, but stingy. He did, however, help her open a coffee shop, that isn’t doing well. One early morning, in walks Eddie. He seems to know April, but she doesn’t know how. Not caring that she is married, he propositions her in more ways than one. Soon enough, someone is dead and someone is in danger.

I read this book because a friend told me to read it. I had zero idea what it was about going into the book, but I was looking forward to it. Once getting into the book, I found short, fast chapters and engaging writing. We get 4 different POVs, which I don’t usually love, but once you figure out how these 4 are connected, its easy to follow along.

This is touted as a thriller, and while yes, it does have a shocking thrill or two in it, I didn’t think it was a true thriller. I was thoroughly entertained reading this book – but it did feel a little satirical to me. Some of what was happening in the book was little far fetched, or wild, that I laughed a little. All of the characters seemed a little off.

One of the things that REALLY bothered me in a bad way was the fact that he had a character worry about his son-in-law getting his money when he died. Well, this book takes place in California. California is a community property state, which means everything gained during the marriage, upon divorce, is split 50/50. However, inheritance, so long as funds are not comingled, isn’t part of the community property. While I understand the author may not have legal knowledge, he made a character a lawyer and a lawyer would have known that. This is taught in law school.

Other than that, I really thought this was an entertaining read! It’s on Kindle Unlimited, so check it out!
