Mackenzie Lane’s first book brought in 6 figures. So he decided to quit his job as a journalist and become an author. Only, since the first book, his next books didn’t sell as well. Mack needs money because his ex wants to send their son to private school, his new wife wants to have a baby and buy a house, his mother needs something too. Mack has been hiding how bad finances are. So Mack comes up with a plan for a publicity stunt – but it’s risky.
This book is really awesome. It explores the publishing industry and how being is author, even when you have one hit, isn’t what everyone thinks it is. Mack has a new book coming out in this book and everyone thinks it’s going to bring him so much money. It begs the question, how far will an author go?
This really is a satirical book, and yes it works VERY well as such, I do think that there are aspects to the book that are very real. It really exemplifies the pressure it is to be the next big thing, and how social media is a huge factor nowadays.
The writing is fantastic. The chapters are short and I found myself reading it quickly without even trying! I really think that anyone can enjoy this book!
Oh, and it was revealed that Joe Zagets is a pseudonym for Zoje Stage!
