It’s 1933, and Piper Danson has been promised to Braxton Crandall. He escorts her at her debut in May, and they are said to be married in the fall. But Piper has other ideas. She takes off to the Appalachian mountains and volunteers as a courier for the frontier nurses, among other things, they help women have babies. This is where she has adventures.
This is a romantic historical fiction novel. What I did love about this book was the history of it. I love learning the smaller things about the history of U.S. that isn’t necessary in textbooks. I went straight to my computer and starting looking more things up about what was in the book. I was surprised to learn one of the characters was real! However, for me, that’s where my interest ended. I felt the story was long winded, and boring. There was no excitement. Therefore, for me, this is a three star book.
