Unsolicited Contact

By: Laura Snider

Thank you to Laura Snider for the ARC of this book!

In the small down of Brine, a local girl, Erica, is found dead, locked inside a large toolbox, in a lake.  The police home in on one suspect, her boyfriend, Noah.  Public Defender Ashley Montgomery is now determined to help Noah prove his innocence, but the police aren’t playing nice.  While searching his home, they find letters addressed to Erica, with a distinctive handwriting and color.  Ashley’s close friend, Rachel, received similar letters, as well as another girl in town.  Now it’s a race against time to find the killer.

The prologue started off with a bang; it sucked me right in and made me want to keep reading.  Snider has a way of writing fluidly, even while writing very distinct characters and writing from various points of view.  There was a line in the beginning about being physically assaulted by the smell of the decomposing body, and it had to be my favorite line of the whole book.  I also love that this book features three women, front and center – each strong in their own ways.  I am a lawyer, and I still love legal thrillers.  But I will say that anyone can love this book because it’s not so bogged down in technical legalese so that a lay person won’t understand.  Snider wrote Ashley to be strong and admirable in the courtroom, and I assume it could only be because she is the same in the courtroom!  This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.  I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good legal thriller!

This will be available on Nov. 15. Get your copy here.
