“When you find love, you take it. You grab it with both hands and you do everything in your power not to let it go. You can’t just walk away from it and expect it to linger until you’re ready for it.”
Fallon was moving to New York on November 10. On November 9, she met Ben. Their attraction makes them spend her last day in L.A. together. Ben, an aspiring writer, needs inspiration for his novel. Upon her departure, they agree to meet every year, for the next 5 years, on the same day. But things change between them, and it’s not as easy as just meeting the same day every year. Fallon learns a secret that Ben has been hiding, and it could tear them apart forever.
This is a very sweet story. Though, I will admit, it is not one of my favorites from Hoover. I loved Ben standing up for her in at the restaurant. I loved that he encouraged her and made her feel beautiful. I did, however, felt that these characters acted and spoke much older than Hoover said they were. I loved the idea of the book, and how we saw each of the characters grow and become even more mature than they already were. There is a twist in the book that I didn’t see coming from a mile away. It shocked me! While this may not be my favorite Hoover novel, I would still suggest reading it.
