The Tenant

By: Freida McFadden

Blake Porter goes from being VP of the company he works for, to being fired and unemployed. Living in brownstone in Manhattan is not cheap. With no other options, he and his fiance Krista decide to take on a tenant. After meeting some people, Whitney comes to see the room and they decide to let her have it. Things then start to get weird. Rotten food, soap all used up, chemicals in the laundry that bother Blake’s skin. Blake is holding onto a secret and he’s afraid that someone knows. There is danger in his home and Blake doesn’t realize it until it’s too late.

Ms. McFadden, you did it once again. I REALLY thought I had this one figured out.. yet again. I thought I outsmarted the plot – that when the reveal happened, I was going to say, “I knew it was going to happen that way.” Alas, that did not happen. When the reveal happened, I was shocked.. once again. How is it that I cannot predict the twists in these books?

I felt really bad for Blake, he went through some rough things and was sounding like he was hallucinating. I felt bad for Krista too, the man she loved changed right before her eyes.

But once the reveal happened, and we got more information, the book went from fast paced to extremely fast paced! I couldn’t stop reading and put the book down. I had to know how it was all going to play out. Not sure why it took me SO long to read this book! If you haven’t read it yet, check it out!
