Always in control Tess finally agrees to go caving with her best friend, Allie. Allie is a travel influencer and Tess is a legal assistant trying to make her way through law school. As they head further down into the cave, they realize that they are not alone. A man is harassing them, following them. Soon enough, Tess is trapped and fighting to stay alive. 24 hours later she’s in a hospital bed telling a police officer what happened. Who was this man and why was he after them? Did Tess ever really know Allie? Is she safe now that she escaped the cave?
Taylor Adams happens to be one of my favorite authors. From No Exit to this book, I’m always held in suspense, always at the edge of my seat. Adams writes books that just feel so different from other books. There’s not a whole lot of back story at the beginning for the “set up.” We get what we need of the back story woven throughout the book, and I love it this way.
There’s so much I want to say, but I always promise spoiler free reviews. I love the way that these characters were written. The setting was perfect. The enclosed cave made me feel closed in as I was reading the book.
There is a moment in the book that there is a jaw dropping twist. I literally stopped reading, with my mouth hanging open. I then re-read what I just read and tried to wrap my head around this twist that I didn’t see coming. Then…… there were a few other smaller twists that I didn’t see coming! Adams really blindsided me! And it was the best! haha.
Everyone who likes thrillers needs to read this book!
