In this novella, Clara Cade is rushing to a fashion charity show that she is putting on, when she hits something in the road. She gets out, sees a bike and a mannequin, but no person. She leaves the scene. Then a boy is mentioned on the news as missing. With search parties looking for the boy, Clara meets the boy’s mom and helps to find him. But someone knows what she did. Clara is adamant that there was no boy there and she seeks out the truth.
This was a quick, entertaining novella. It’s full of mystery and suspense. Being that it is so short, I was able to finish this in one sitting. I also kept reading because I wanted to know what really happened. There were times I wanted to shout at Clara to be careful, and tell her what she is doing isn’t safe.
There are two twists in here that I didn’t see coming! I feel like two really good twists in just 94 pages is amazing. Of course, I really enjoy Rijks’ books so I do wish it was longer just because I wanted more from this storyline and characters. Not because the story needed it.
So if you need a quick, entertaining, suspenseful read.. grab this one!
