Many thanks to Over the River PR for the ARC of this book!
Stella Lerner is a fashion design and social media influencer who wants to take her brand and company global. Things are looking good for her in her career. The part of her life that isn’t working? Her relationship with her boyfriend, Alex. So when an a dating app creator asks her to try it out anonymously, she agrees. And then she matches with someone and seemingly has an emotional connection. The conversations she has with this match really make her evaluate herself and takes her on a path that she didn’t expect to ever be on.
I enjoyed the concept behind the book. The social media influencer and fashion designer who becomes her online persona so much that she loses herself, then needs to re-evaluate herself, and it the midst of it, her relationship is struggling.
I really wanted more scenes between her and her boyfriend. There were pages and pages about her social media, her business etc.. But there were not that many interactions with Alex. I also would have liked more scenes between her and the person on the dating app, Blindr. The book is described as combining cultural insights, emotional stakes, and romantic comedy. I didn’t feel like there was enough romance.
This is an easy and fast read. The writing style is good. I knew the ending was going to be what it was very early in the book, but that didn’t take anything away from reading.
Overall, and enjoyable read.
