Many thanks to the author for the ARC of this book!
We are back at West Pine, and this book picks up where Make It Hurt left off. Someone has hurt Saige, but no one knows who. Saige’s stepbrother, Elias, is still obsessed with her. Saige is trying to stay away from him, and from Dax. The only one she starts off talking to is Nolan. But the mystery remains, who hurt Saige, and is she safe at all?
I wanted this book to be more like the first one. The first book in this duology had a lot of plot to it, and a lot of spice. But this one, the book was mostly spice and lacking in plot for most of the book. I was disappointed how the book picked up from where it left off. I wanted that to be drawn out a little more, but it was “tidied” up so quickly at the beginning of this one.
Now, when the plot actually kicked in, it was absolutely amazing. I perked up and couldn’t read fast enough. There was some action and some mystery. The readers could probably figure out who was behind it all, but I did second guess myself at one point, just the way that the characters did.
I enjoy Mitchell’s writing style – lots of dialogue and the style just flows so nicely. I would love to read whatever she writes next so long as there is a little more plot. Bring on the suspense and mystery, as well as the spice!
