I love Katherine Center rom-coms and this one is no different. JoJo is about to get married, but then she fake faints and runs out on the wedding. Fast forward 6 weeks to her sister getting married on a cruise ship. She and her sister have come up with a plan to get over her relationship issues – get the guy who gave her her first kiss. But things don’t go according to plan, and her best friend, Cooper, seems to be by her side the entire time. He’s always rescuing her and helping her. Little bits of jealousy shine through, but JoJo still is determined to get through her plan to get her childhood crush.
This was so fun to read. I really enjoyed JoJo and Cooper’s banter. They had such chemistry! There were times where I was literally smiling as I was reading the book. While most people are bored about what JoJo does – she teaches art in math and has a degree in mathematics, Cooper seems to hang onto every word. Cooper is a full on cinnamon roll MMC. He’s always there for her, takes care of her – especially that terrible sun burn! He talks her up when others want to talk her down. I don’t know how many times I wanted to shake JoJo and say “look what’s right in front of you.”
Did I basically know how this was going to end? Yes. But that doesn’t take away from the fun of reading it. The book also had some great side characters as well. I didn’t want Cooper’s and JoJo’s story to end. It’s really the perfect summer rom-com to read.
