In this small town romance, Lenore, is coming back home to stay in her grandmother’s house for two weeks before the house is closed on. She’s hoping to find closure, but what she finds is that life in New York maybe wasn’t as good as it seemed. Callan Bradford, her brother’s best friend and now the groundskeeping of her grandmother’s orchid, is still working there until the end. She is reminded of the feelings that she once had for Callan, but also how he always seemed to keep her at arms length. Callan thought he knew how his life was going to go, and then Lenore showed up, looking even better than he remembered. As they spend time together, the more they feel the magnetic pull to each other. But in just a short while, she’s going to go back to New York and he’s staying in this small town in Vermont.
This was a really sweet small town fall romance. Lenore is struggling with the grief of losing her grandmother. Her ex was a big tool when it came to her grief, but Callan, he may not understand it, but he let her sit in it when she needed to. The author really handled Lenore’s grief very well. There is no right or wrong way to handle grief, and Lenore handled it in her way.
Callan is sweet and it’s really easy to root for the both of them. I feel for Callan who thinks that maybe he’s not enough for Lenore. He wants her to have the world. It’s really, really sweet.
Along with the romance and the grief aspect of the book, both Lenore and Callan do a little mystery solving in trying to find out who painted the paintings in the attic of her grandmother’s house. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I loved how this aspect of the book came together.
If you’re looking for a sweet, small town romance, with a tad bit of spice, definitely check this out!
