Trust Fall

By: Lynn Painter

Many thanks to Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing for the eARC of this book!

Julia and her family live in a small town in Nebraska. When an elderly friend and neighbor passes away, they inherit money from him, and a property in New York. The one condition is that her family had to move to NY for 6 months and she and her brother had to go to a specific school. In NY, the man’s nephew, Damion, believes that these Nebraska people had to be stealing from his uncle, and he wants to take back what’s his. He decides to get close to Julia to find out information. But the more time they spend together, the more they find themselves falling for each other. Only.. he hasn’t been honest with her, will that break the trust?

This was such a cute book! I really enjoy Painter’s books, they are fun to read. Yes, this is a YA romance, but Painter has such a way with these books and characters that it’s easy to smile while reading! I absolutely loved how Julia and Damion bantered back and forth with each other. It felt true to their age, but it was also some major flirting – which is how I guess I remember flirting at their age too.

There were a couple of moments that, had I been Julia, my heart would have stopped beating at his actions – in a good way!! Though, I don’t want to give those away. Yes, this is an enemies to “relationship” book, (I won’t say lovers because this is a spice free book as appropriate for their age), but Damion turns out to be so much more than a rich prep school boy.

Painter’s YA romance books are some of my favs, so anything she writes, I’ll read!
