Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the ARC of this book!
Jeika wants to die. So she puts a wanted ad online to find someone to help her. Dani is a killer who is trying to find her code. She comes across the wanted ad and is very intrigued, so she answers it. As Jeika and Dani start talking, and Dani decides whether she wants to help Jeika, a vigilante starts stalking them.
The premise of this book sounded so good I knew I had to read it! Unfortunately, the execution of the book didn’t really work for me. The beginning started off good and I was really into the book. Then it started to lose me. My interest didn’t start to pick up again until more than half way into the book. That section of the book was just so slow, and I didn’t feel like much was happening. Once there was actual action in the book, I did enjoy it a bit more, but I found it really hard to want to keep reading because I had already been bored.
I couldn’t root for any of the characters. Dani is written like she’s this highly intelligent serial killer, but then there are blunders and her actions and choices make her seem sloppy. And the romance between Dani and Jeika felt very weak. I didn’t believe it at all.
Overall, I think the premise was great, but needed a better execution.
